More appeals for help from Rotary / Specsavers project
More and more learners who do not qualify for the "Right to Good Sight" project, are being assisted through the Rotary/Specsavers spectacles project. The most recent learner given assistance is a learner from Bontebok Laerskool. Here she is evidently very impressed with her spectacles and improved sight. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Rotary and Specsavers.

Food Garden Training Day
Swellendam Rotary Club were privileged to enlist the services of the Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve for a training workshop on creating sustainable food gardens. The day was hosted at St Luke’s church in Railton where a new food garden is being established for the community. 9 members of the community attended the training, 8 from Railton and one from Montagu. Gifts from Over the Sea
Stephen and Jackie Young from the Rotary club of Swellendam have great friends in UK who are members of Burnham Beech Lions Club. Their Mum, Pauline O’Neill, loves to knit and has been supplying jumpers and beanie hats for the new born babies in Swellendam for the last year. 72 sets have been handed over so far and another 36 sets are due to arrive on Monday. Handover of baby clothes and blankets to Swellendam Hospital
The ladies of the Rotary Railton Coffee Morning Group and Avendson Klub for the Elderly handed over their beautifully knitted blankets and baby clothes to the Swellendam Hospital. Rotary Swellendam as part of the project donated wool towards the project. Included with the knitted items were items received from Mrs Pauline O'Neil of Farnham Royal in England. Rotary - Specsavers spectacles Project does it again
.A young learner from St Johns Primary School received his new spectacles last week. The young learner's eyes were tested some time ago but it took a long time to manufacture the necessary lenses. According to his teacher, the young learner is now able to write in between the lines as he previously was not able to see the lines without spectacles.
