
Wheelchair project ongoing
The donation of wheelchairs for needy recipients is one of Rotary's annual projects. Rotary Club Swellendam was recently privileged to be able to hand over five wheelchairs (sponsored by Rotary International) to the Department of Community Welfare and Avendson. Rotary Coffee Morning for the Elderly Project - Year end Function
At a joyous function on the 4th December in Pastor Josephs AFMWC in Railton, Rotarians, Rotary Anns and Country Catering joined hands to provide a super lunch for the elderly folk. Cupcakes, koeksisters and other delicious goodies were served after the meal. Again, for the third time this year, clothing and articles knitted by the ladies were gifted to organisations for distribution among the less privileged and needy. Coronation Double Century Bicycle Race
IMPRESSIVE! The organisation of the Coronation Double Century cycle race is a major undertaking! 3300 cyclists ( plus support/family) arrive in Swellendam on the Friday before and fill every nook and cranny of accommodation available in and out of town. From Swellendam, cyclists follow the R324 through Suurbraak and over Tradouw Pass towards Barrydale. A left turn onto the R62 leads them to the challenging 7 kilometer Op de Tradouw stretch, before making their way to Montagu.
